DLS was founded in 1997 based on an inquiry from Ahold executives to the late Nedcon founder, Ruud Hollander to investigate automatic full case order pick solutions for their grocery Distribution Centers. Based on his +35 years of experience developing, manufacturing and installing automated racking solutions for the largest corporations in the world, the at the time retired Mr. Hollander started developing his own solution and subsequently started Dynamic Logistic Systems (DLS).
Having plenty of time and little pressure allowed DLS to develop a solution to a detail and perfection that is rarely possible in a normal business environment. After five years of intense research, development and testing the first Order Release Module was installed for Dutch grocery retail leader Albert Heijn (Ahold); a module that despite its "pilot" status still "picks" around 50.000 cases per day and was joined by a second module in 2005. In 2004 business was expanded to North America, where a North American sales office was opened in Denver, Colorado.
